Are there no plans for a west coast Chevellebration? I'm not sure why there hasn't been an event out here before, but I don't think it's from lack of interest.

Should have gone to the Southern California Chevelle and El Camino Show they have during the summer. There were lots of nice cars, I think there were atleast 300 there, Give or take a few. Only problem with where they have it, Too Dusty there graemlins/angry.gif They need to think of another place this year graemlins/thumbsup.gif

There are several events connected to ACES, one in the upper Northwest and at least on in SoCal. Look at the Events link on the homepage of this site.

It's only a one-day affair, though. Convince the powers-that-be to turn it into a multi-day show and there's your West Coast Regional.

Why can't there be a show in Redding? That seems like a central point from the tip of northern Washington to San Diego. Sacramento would work too, but I know its 11 hours from Portland driving 80 in the family car, which would make it 16-18 hours from Seattle in a Chevelle with 4.10s.
I'm not 100% positive but I think its like 8 hours to Sacramento from San Diego. What clubs are in Northern Ca. That would be able to host such an event. Interest is definitely there, but how feasible is it? If the NW was granted a Chevellabration would the California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and Idaho folks show up? We already average 200+ cars at the Oregon Show and the Yesterdays/Aces NW Regionals albeit inclusive of post 72 cars. Would it be strictly for ACES Members as Chevelleabration is?
Just points to Ponder.

There IS a huge show (Kool April Nites) in Redding every year. Drag racing, crusing, showing, drag racing, crusing, etc. I go every year and it's great. All years, and models of cars are allowed (some 1200+ cars). I know it's not a Chevelle-only show, but it is a week-long event.

Like others, I wish there was a West Coast Chevellebration.

Funny how So Cal was the hot-bed for hod rodding and now a multi-day event can't even get off the ground graemlins/sad.gif

How about a Chevelle only show area somewhere in Reno, the same week as Hot August Nights ?

Nate,
Great idea... I am always there... Last year there was an "unofficial" club event for a local Mopar club (my buddy has had a few Dodge Musclecars)... I think the key was that it was put on by a local Reno Mopar club... Probably need to find a local Chevelle club to get a good base of cars...

But I'm up for it. I should be bringing my Chevelle, and I'd be willing to get together sometime...

As for the West Coast "Regional", I'll agree that somewhere in the middle (Sacramento or the SF Bay Area) would be great... Seattle is too much at "one end"... So Cal too, although there should be lots of cars...

Sacramento USED to have some pretty big shows, but they seem to have dies out for some reason... They have a drag strip with a large paved parking lot that would probably be a good place. They even heald the Musclecar Nationals there once in the late 80's/early 90's. Or the State fairgrounds...

there are a few local Chevelle clubs in Sac and the Nor Cal club is based out of the Bay Area, then there's the TC locals...

I may be bias, but Vegas always is a great multi-day venue, possibly coordinating with the Super Chevy Show (late September/early October? not sure). Piggybacking on to an event that we have a natural association with anyway, would make sense economically and organizationally. In fact, simply securing or arranging a Chevelle, El Camino only parking lot (area) for the weekend at the L.V. Motor Speedway, could prove to be the stepping stone for bigger things to come. At very least providing a measurement of interest with a minimal investment, especially important if there is relunctance in sponsorship.
Oh yeah, Vegas has a few other "perks".
Several cruise possibilities; Red Rock, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam, etc... All under 100 miles and easily accessed from L.V.M.S.
Photo opportunities galore; Imagine a mile of "A" bodies on a midnight cruise down the Strip.
Just thought I'd throw it out there with all the other suggestions.
