I'm looking for 401A6LUN, but it's backordered til late March on summit, and I can't find it anywhere else.

Anyone know a good source of Lunati cams? Call up Lunati directly?

thanks,
Brian

If you have a local speed shop in your area, I'd give them a try. I'm assuming you've tried Jegs.

I called Lunati direct. I needed a custom grind BBC roller. I wanted to deal with the Mfg. Great guys to deal with( Harold, Steve, James) and not much more than Summit or Jegs.
It would be worth a call to check if they have it in stock, or it's BO'd from them also.

Call Lunati direct in Memphis, a few years ago I called them for info. They were great to deal with, I gave them my specs, they computed a special grind mech. roller for my 427 and offered up all their recommendations. At the time I was collecting parts, I ordered cam and lifters, price was considerably better than any other (local or mail order). Several months later I tried to order the recommended valve springs, but Holley had purchased Lunati and direct orders were eliminated. The local speed crook was a Comp pusher, but agreed to order them. I didn't get to the build for a year (new baby, moved, etc...), wouldn't you know, the springs were boxed wrong. The number was right, but springs were small block. The speed shop wouldn't touch it, I called Lunati, they said the Holley obstruction was no longer, they requested a letter along with the return. I added a retainer/locks order, sent the springs back and promptly received everything within weeks. The combo was right on, smooth and snappy. I used to be total Crane guy back in the Fireball days, was disheartened in the late 80's, tried everything else, Lunati is it, happy since '99. Lift; 595/612 ,dur@.050; 244/252
Call 'em, feel 'em out.

I just called them and ordered my cam and valvetrain kit. It's more expensive than ordering through summit, but they are shipping it out today, versus the end of march for summit!

My heads are sitting at the machine shop, so it'll be nice to get the valvetrain kit to them this week.

Thats kinda weird, the cost thing, I specifically remember comparing prices on the cam and lifters (roller mech.), my cam wasn't in the summit catalog, but I priced similar Lunati pieces, ordering direct was definitely cheaper. Considering the fact that Holley originally banned direct orders after the buyout, the later policy turn around probably mandated price guidelines, as not to undercut retailers. An independent manufacturer has alot more freedom, especially if their product is "the sh_t". When you have to ensure sales across broad productlines you simply can't afford disgruntled
distributors, a few bucks on cam combo could cost them billions in carburetors, Barry Grant, Proform, etc... have Holley up the deversify or die creek.
