: Made In USA?

I read in the engine forum that some atermarket intakes are cast in china, Is there a place that lists where the speed parts that we stick on our cars are made? I've used edlebrocks performers on my elky, camaro, blazer, a bb performer on my 454 for my chevelle, and never had any fit problems. Are imported parts as good? any thoughts? Personally I prefer made in the USA! Jim

i would stay away from import products. they belong on ricers :D american muscle cars use american parts. Aint nothing like seeing an edelbrock intake with the new symbol of the flag with made in the USA on it. graemlins/beers.gif i would get one but dont have the cash rite now for it.
i bought a thermostat housing made in china well only lasted 300 miles and the coolant ate though the housing now i need to replace it.

this is just what i think

If the price is too good to be true...

ALL the aftermarket cast cranks, and MOST of the aftermarket forged ones are Communist Chinese.

Same for the rods. Now intakes. Next, it'll be heads, and then blocks.

I kind of resent the Taiwanese 'n' Australian HEI distributors, but at least those countries aren't out to destroy our economy as a side benefit to building their own economy. Hey, let's face it, Taiwan IS the legitimate Chinese government. They're just not the one with the nukes.

Keep your GM car all "feng shui". Yeah, that's the ticket.

What really torques my jowls is that the companies trying to peddle this crap often hide behind "patriotic" sounding names...like "Eagle".

I found something the other day that was made in the USA........fortune cookies. thats right the fortune cookies from our favorite Chinease resturant are made in Texas. Go figure.

I do run a Professional Products polished vortec intake on our Z28. I give $99.00 for it and the finish was far superior to the polished edelbrock that my bro-in-law is running on his '70 pick-up and it was over 150.00 cheaper.

It insults me to have to put some chinese part on my chevy. I dont care if its good or not. I love my Chevelle not just for its looks or performance but for its heritage. For its cultural background. China never had a Muscle car era and still doesnt, and as long as they are communists they never will. People in this country complain about being unemployed yet they buy tons of imported trash every day. I would gladly pay double the money for a quality American part. They say they build this stuff over seas because of cheap labor and thats why we get it cheap but thats bull. With all the computerized machining equipment they have these days, labor is minimal. The real reason for building stuff over seas is because they dont have to meet pollution standards that we have i.e. they spew untreated waste into the air and sea. They also dont care about worker safety or child labor laws. China executes more people each year than all other dictatorships combined. Also bill Clinton sighned a pact to share nuclear information with china. That ought to make us all feel safer. My brother in law supervises a mill in Mexico and they dont have forklifts to load trucks, they do it all by hand. He says a forklift costs thousands of dollars and a Mexican costs about a buck a day. If one gets hurt he just gets rid of him and gets another one. Who is going to buy all these products when all of our jobs are gone? The world economy will colapse. O.K. I'm done.

Are import parts as good? Maybe, but your car will want a fill up after about 2 hours..... smile.gif

Fortune cookies are actually an American invention. They've only been available in China since the early 90's. Actually, most of the "Chinese" menu available at Chinese take-out places was developed here for American tastes. That concludes today's history lesson. :D ;)

Another great source of pride is that the US exports nearly all the wooden, throw away chopsticks now used in China. They use their own personal chopsticks normally. Wow, how would our economy survive without all that business.

I went to China a couple of years ago on export business, and the "Chinese" food here is a far cry from the "real" stuff there. Be glad that ours has been Americanized! I lost 8 pounds in the 10 days I was there.

Edelbrock and other companies that sell auto components have been shipping their products to foreign nations for years. We no longer have cars made in America with American parts. Get use to it-China is the worlds largest producer of items for cars-tools-clothing-electronics-etc......

Welcome to the Global Economy. It's going to get harder and harder to find "Made in America" parts.
