Well, I've gotta loosen the headers and remove my starter to do my tranny swap, and I figured I would try to resolve my hot start issues as they relate to my wiring. In other words, I'm looking to replace my starter wiring, not my starter. I don't want to go into the many issues relating to hot start problems, ONLY my starter wiring at this point.

I know there are some replacements I could buy and was hoping someone has some comments on it - bigger main cable, quick disconnects, that kind of stuff - but already made and ready to go. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks! They had that and a starter solenoid relocation kit. The one you listed is a bump-start, I'm only looking to rewire in existing configuration but with better wire/connections.

You my want to up grade your batt cable to a HEAVER gage wire.. As for the wires.. One wire Two Wire starter configuration. summit sells a two wire plug go quick change.
As for Hot start. the heavy gage Batt. cable might help a little,, but IMO NOT MUCH..
Thermal wrap, heat shield, mini and gear reduction starters or remote solenoids are the only cure. There is a light duty spring for the solenoids.. so it pulls in easyer in the heat soaked condition... I tried that with limited success...

I run very big battery cables with a stock starter on my big block. I dont remember the size but its the biggest i could find. I also wrapped the solenoid with header wrap. This worked perfectly fine with the battery in the stock location. When I put the battery in the trunk last year it didnt start so good so I installed an Optima battery and that fixed it. I also recently installed a ford style solenoid setup not to fix anything but just to have an easier spot to hook up my bump start switch to rotate the motor. Also its much less expensive to buy bulk cable at an auto parts store than buying a kit from some one like summit. Just solder the ends on yourself.

I use #1 size Welding cable to Batt. mounted in rear, Use stock starter But wrap the solenoid with a Stainless steel sponge (Cooks use em to clean their Grills) You've got to stretch it out to make it flatter, secure with stainless wire around the solelnoid, Used this shield for years with uncoated headers. no problemas
Try the Yellow Pages to find a Battery Supplier to City Services, they got really Heavy Duty terminals, bolts, heat shrink tubeing, water proof
connectors ect. (Both ends made of solid copper cost $8.00 installed to cable) Beats any thing found at Napa, Pep Boys, AZone.

Thanks for the extra tips. I've already got the starter and all the wiring shielded. I'll have to check the yellow pages for some local suppliers.
