Was getting ready to pop the hole in the rear quarter of my 68 to mount the antenna. Looked at the manual, and it didn't make sense. Anyone know what the "PV" and "RV" references used in the dims for the hole locations are? I need to know where to locate the hole!

I would post a scan from the manual if I knew how to post pics on here...

I don't know about the references you speak of, but I do have a '68 that came from the factory with rear antenea. If you need, I could go to my storage and get some accurate measurements on Sat.

I think that this question was answered about a year ago. I think it went like this. The firewall is considered 0. The problem is that the firewall isn't necessarily flat. Neglect the heater box, wiper motor, etc. Go back from the flat portion of the firewall to the rear fender.

And the centerline of the car is also considered 0. Go from the centerline to the left? You will have the intersection of the two dimensions.

Double check with someone that has a factory antenna.

It was confirmed in here a while ago that the measurements for 68 are the same as 69. Here's mine which is from the center of the hole, good luck.

I was at my storage today so I measured my rear antenea. It is 2 1/16 fron the trunk opening by 7 1/2 from the rear edge of the quarter measured to the center of the hole. I'm pretty confident this is where the factory placed them since I bought the car new and the antenae was factory installed. Also, the antenae is off now for the car to be painted so accurate measurement was easy. Hope that helps.

This is interesting, after seeing this post, I went to the garage to measure mine. It's 2 inches in, by 7 inches, matches neither of the above. Mine came from the factory with the rear antenna, as I have the build sheet. Plus, I remember seeing the car back in late 1969 on Main street in the town I lived in. So, it appears as if the General was not all the picky about exactly where the antenna went.

You guys are great!

I started measuring things up and it appeared that the "RV" reference was to the center of the trunk lid. And it also appeared that the "PV" reference was to the firewall...it looked like it might be right, but I really wasn't sure.

The measurements and pics help me out a lot. Time to start drilling!
