Ok this morning while driving my chevelle (72) i ended up on a patch of ice with the wheels spinning, it took a bit of forward/reversing to get off of it, but for some reason out of noware my speedo goes to around 80-120 bouncing around making a noise like two gears are spinning at their max.

Below 30 its fine, but once it hits thirty it starts jumping around making that noise. What could hte problem be and is there an easy fix (daily driver)...

It sounds like it might need the ole remove the core, clean, lube and reinstall. Take the cable loose from the head, remove the core, clean it with a solvent rag, dry it, find some white lubriplate and coat the cable with this except the last two inches and reinstall in the cable housing while using a twisting motion, reconnect the cable to the speedo and road test. Hope this helps.

sounds good the function resumed but there is a clicking at certain rpms from the speedo, so im pretty sure a cleaning wouldn't hurt, thanks.
