Drain the coolant. Remove the line from the fuel pump to the carb. Move out of the way things like alternators and associated wiring.Remove the thermostat housing or radiator hose. Remove the distributor and plug wires. Remove throttle and choke link linkage--also kickdown link for auto trans. Remove heater hose on manifold. Remove PCV hose. Remove the screws holding the manifold to the heads. Remove cylinder head covers if they stick out over the manifold. Lift off the manifold. Hope that I got it all.

Go get yourself the book 'How to rebuild the Small Block Chevy' by David Vizard. It is not expensive and it is very helpful. You will get info on your intake and if you every decide to go further you will already have the book.

Godd Luck.

Maybe set the engine on TDC before you pull the distributor.

I got the following tips from this site and Edelbrock instructions that came with the intake. Get Permatex and gasket sealer. I recommend using the tabs that come for the back of the manifold close to the firewall. be sure to have torque wrench. When putting on the new manifold, place a screwdriver or something in one of the back holes to guide the manifold down straight. Other wise you risk smearing/messing up the bead of silicone.
