View Full Version : looking for my old 65 SS
sschevellefan Jan 1st, 05, 2:48 AM It`s a long shot but I thought maybe someone here could have ended up with my old 65 chevelle. I think the guy I sold it to, sold it to someone in Richmond CA or around that area. It was pale yellow (butternut, crokus?) with black interier. It was weird that it was a 65 but the registration always listed it as a 64. Whe I owned it, it had blue plates with the numbers 776TNY. They might have been changed. The VIN # is 138375Z101970. If someone here has the car, I would like to see it again and possibly buy it back since it was my first car. If anyone has any info please let me know. By the way, this isn`t a "want ad", I just want to see my old car again. Thanks.
71BBSSCONV Jan 1st, 05, 9:02 AM May I suggest that you go to your local police dept dept & explain to them your unique problem. If they take pity on you, they may just run the vin & let you know if the car is still titled anywhere in the country.
Hope this helps.

sschevellefan Jan 3rd, 05, 2:49 AM Thanks, I never thought of that. I did`nt know they could do that. I just thought that someone here may have ended up with the car and might see the post. I`ll check with the local PD though to see what they can do.
65427chevelle Oct 22nd, 09, 9:41 PM I just typed my vin# for my 65 chevelless into yahoo and you came up. i read your comments and decided to reply. I know that this your car because the DMV keeps telling me its a 64 too and it used to yellow. The car is now repainted in a turquoise blue and she looks great. We bought back in 05 from a guy in Pleaston, CA and has been with my family since then and it has brought us great joy. I would love it if you can give me some history that you have had with this car as well as what it the car had,motor/trans those kinds of thing. The car as a long history these past 45 years its been on the road and i would love to know about it. Im proud to say she is not just kept to the garage. The car is not for sale, but i would love to here from you. These old cars have alot of character to them and i would love to here your stories.
Thank, Scott

Scott, first of all THANK YOU for responding. You have no idea what it means to me. That was my first car and I used my fathers life insurance money to get it and I never should have let it go for that reason alone.
Well lets see, I think I was the 3rd owner. When I got it in 1992 it was a pretty much original driver except different wheels. It still had the stock 283 2bbl/pg combo and was slow as hell. I was young and dump and yanked the 283 for a stock but cammed 327 and eventually had a couple other 327`s in there before putting a different stock 283 in it before I got rid of it. I did alot of street racing with it and alot of track racing too. It was my only car for about 5 years. I drove that thing all over. Went trough several cruise nights in my home town of Napa, cruised over in Santa Rosa alot too. I loved that car and actually cried when I saw it drive away but I was young and dumb and thought I wanted something else.
There are a ton of memories in that car for me. The best one is when I was in the 9th grade I would walk home and one day I decided to go a different was just because. That way led me right past this yellow 65 chevelle. From then on I would walk this route everyday just to see the car. One day the car was gone and I didn`t see it there anymore. Fast forward 2 years, I answer a ad in the auto trader for a 65 chevelle. When I got there it was the very same car. I even asked the guy if he used to live where I saw the car before. Needless to say I was sold before I even drove it. Man I loved that car, still do.
I would love to see the car in person sometime. My email is chopperhead2@yahoo.com and my cell is 916-475-2119. Feel free to contact me anytime. I would love some pics too. Last time I saw some pics it was the blue color and was listed at Kasabian motors in dublin. I was able to contact a past owner in Oakley but he had sold it about a year before I contacted him. I`m looking forward to hearing from you.
sschevellefan Oct 22nd, 09, 11:30 PM Guys I can`t believe this myself. I`m almost chocked up a bit just thinking about possibly seeing my old car. I can`t believe it`s not too far from me either. I hope he checks back in too.
jefft28 Oct 22nd, 09, 11:32 PM The internet is crazy wicked.

Well he said in his post it wasn`t for sale but I hope i can get first shot at it when it does come up for sale. I`m not in a position to buy it right now anyway, I know what it sold for a few years ago and I can`t touch it right now. I`m just about to start a new career path so hopefully when the times comes the money will too.
By the way, I still remember who has the original 283:thumbsup:

We`ll just have to wait and see. Wouldn`t that be a great story though? I`m actually trying to make a deal on a 65 el camino that I was actually planning to set up like my old chevelle was. I mean before I was stupid enough to tear it apart to go racing. Shoud of left it stock and found something else but when your 17...
cheveslakr Oct 22nd, 09, 11:51 PM One cool story!

fishhead Oct 22nd, 09, 11:51 PM Anthony..you need to find that guy and never let him go. He should be your new best friend...you could go cruising in his town for a few hours and keep looking, asking people for help...eventually you will find someone that knows the car...

sschevellefan Oct 23rd, 09, 1:13 AM This isn`t the car but this is how it looked when I had it except I had the 68-up rally caps. I actually have a current pic of it on my old computer from when it was listed on the website I found it at but I haven`t transfered the pics over to my new computer yet.
Lilracr Oct 23rd, 09, 9:07 AM Wow this is a cool story!

1966_L78 Oct 23rd, 09, 1:40 PM Thats cool Anthony...
I had a list of about 12+ cars from my/my familys past, and only could find one... My brother's 427 powered '68SS...
Finally got a hold of the owner (same guy that bought it 29 years ago): Not for sale, but the guy actually told me to keep his number and try back in a few years...

Mike66 Oct 25th, 09, 5:39 PM I couldn't believe it when you told me you found your old Chevelle! Man, I have a lot of great memories in that car too... I remember hanging out in my garage waiting for you to come over and I could hear you turn off Partrick Road and all the way up the hill to my house. Or, how about the time you raced Lester in his 66 on Dry Creek Rd and I was hanging out the passenger window laughing at him as you schooled his ass. Man, to be 18 again...
