i have a 68 el camino. i measured the front sway bar its bigger than 7/8 but a hair smaller than 15/16. it also has the connecting bars between the upper and lower control arms in the rear. dous this mean it has F-40? or did all el caminos come with these connecting bars?

according to my GM restoration guide there was an F-40 HD suspension option in 68. also I read somewhere that the connecting bar in the rear was only on F-40 on chevelle. however there are some things that were standard on el camino that were not on chevelles, like air shocks. so you see my confusion.

By "connecting bars/bar" are you talking about the sway bar that bolts through the control arms and hangs under the rear axle, or are you talking about the reinforcements that tie the mounting points of the control arms together at the frame end?
My '68 had the reinforcements, but didn't have the sway bar.

my 70 malibu has the F40 trailoring package and it only has a front sway bar less than 15/16. It also has 2 braces in the rear that go from the frame where the lower control arms are to the middle the crossmember where the uper control arms are.
