Thanks for the info on removing the ignition switch from the dash of my 67. Now I am trying to reinstall it and it doesn't want to go back in. I have the key in the tumbler and the key is at about 9 oclock, the position it was in when the tumbler slid out. It seems that I should be able to put it back in and turn to the right.... but NOOOOO.

Is the nut holding the switch in tight? Is there a wire or somthing caught behind ,keeping it from tighting up all the way. If the nut is not threaded all the way the cyl. cant turn.

Is it a replacement switch, did you turn the switch to match the position of the key and tumblers?

It's the same switch. Same tumblers. I will check history.

Nothing in History. Is there some magic to installing this tumbler assembly. I don't want to pay $75.00 to a locksmith and have him pop it right in.

Do you have to have the piece in the hole to replace it like you did when you removed it?

I don't know. There is nothing different or missing. Is there a procedure for reinstalling it?
Anybody have experience with this?

Chuck: I just did this 3 days ago on my 67. Look on the end of the switch and you will see it has a raise area along the back. Just line that up with the groove inside the housing and it will fall right into place. The key will be close to 9:00 position but not exactly so don't go by that other than just getting it close.
