View Full Version : '69 SS - What's it Worth
camnick Dec 27th, 04, 10:04 PM I have a good friend that I've known since I was 10 years old. He bought this '69 SS when he was 17, two years after I bought my '71. That was 23 years ago. He's seriously thinking of selling the car. I don't know what it's worth. My wife has already gave me the OK graemlins/thumbsup.gif , if it's not outrageous. It's a true SS, 396, 4 speed, Posi. Needs a little work aound the rear glass from the vinyl top. The rest of the car is in great condition. Recent rebuilt engine. Interior in good condition. Paint is a little old, but looks decent. Could drive it anywhere right now, but not a show car. Any ideas?
ACLineman Dec 27th, 04, 10:06 PM I got an idea.............................................. ............................................If you got the green light, GO !!!!!
What's it worth to YOU????? That is the question...
SS4speed Dec 27th, 04, 10:25 PM Man, I can't disagree with ACLinemam, it's always what I want to pay for it, and I don't go any higher. But giving you a ballpark price, that's a hard question to answer, without seeing the car. I have seen them range from 6,500 to 30,000 for a spotless SS. I would suggest that you watch ebay for Chevelle's in your area. See what they are selling for in the same condition, to get a basic idea. You most likely know how the car has been treated and what condition it's in. If it's really in shape you believe, I would guess 14 to 21K. You will find a ton of Chevelle SS cars on the Web for sale.
Good luck,
Fred.
camnick Dec 27th, 04, 10:31 PM That's the problem. We don't want to screw each other. I can't let this car go though. It's been around since before I graduated High School.
Chris R Dec 28th, 04, 1:11 AM How about some pics to help us out?
Chris.
What HP? Matching numbers? Build sheet still in there? What orig colors? Buckets or bench? options? How original in engine comp? I'm not an expert price appraiser (who really is?) but I'll take a look at it for you if you want.
d1_bradley Dec 28th, 04, 12:03 PM Why don't you both split on an appraiser. This will give you a fair starting point.

camnick Dec 28th, 04, 3:21 PM Von, I may take you up on that. I'm going to get pictures this weekend. I haven't seen it for a year. Hopefully it's just as I remembered.
Mr69 Dec 31st, 04, 1:50 AM Is the owner savvy about current prices on these cars ???
I think I'd just have him come up with a price and if I could live with it, I'd just hand him the money.
This way he's happy, you're happy and it shouldn't come back to haunt you !
If you describe the car in detail here, you'll get good responses, I'm sure.
Nate
speedcats.us Jan 5th, 05, 12:15 AM I am a Licensed appraiser and would be happy to ball park it for you if would email me a few pictures front, sides ect.. damage?, options, orginal or nom, ce engine ?. Average for a driver with minor flaws with big block is near 15,000.00 Auction prices are almost always higher. I woulds suggest a simple solution, Both of you write down a figure on paper compare and go from there.!
