Did all the 1970 chevelle ss's have F-41 suspension? Mine doesnt but i dont know if it originally did because of the rear end being from a 72 chevelle and the arms arent boxed but you never know because they could have been changed too. Man, i wish i had the build sheet or anything that told me what options it originally came with.

According to GM literature on the F41: "Suspension, Special Performance: Available only when 330-hp engine is ordered. Includes HD rear shock absorbers, rear stabilizer and special duty front stabilizer and rear axle lower arms. Included when SS Package is ordered." $29.50 (Italics are my addition.)

F41 was standard on SS models, yes.

Dale, That makes since because my Malibu 400 has the F41 suspension. The 402 was rated at 330 hp.

My car has a 1.25" front sway bar. Just installed new poly bushings so I know. My car came with F41 and I believe its the original swaybar.

Where could I get the lower boxed arms and rear sway bar and the other accessories for it?

Our sponsor Groundup, or NPD or Yearone.

What if I went to a salavge yard? What cars should I look for that have the same rear sway bar as a chevelle?

You can buy the inserts to box the control arms for $30
They need to be welded in..or you can go buy new boxed arms stock or aftermarket at over $200+ for the pair
Stock rear swaybar is still available from GM..costs about $80 delivered

You could buy a pair of good used boxed control arms from a member here but be sure and ask how rusty they are first.
I'm pretty sure he wouldn't tell you in advance that they are too rust pitted to use if you failed to ask.

It would be SO EASY to just buy the inserts and have them welded in. I have several used arms in the attic which I plan to add inserts to-----------------someday.

Pontiac GTO - LeMans - 66 to 72

Olds Cutlass - 442 - F85 - 66 to 72

Buick Skylark - Gran Sport - GS- 66 to 72

Also the station wagon version of any of these cars would work too.Actually the BOP A-body's got the F41 suspension way before the chevy's did so your chances of finding one of these are greater.
Actually if you find any of these models in a boneyard lots of parts interchange with Chevelles so happy hunting. graemlins/waving.gif
