I have stripped the paint, sanded with 80 grit and applied a coat of PPG DP50LF epoxy primer. I plan to apply a coat of high build (sandable)primer now. I assume that it would be time for "blocking" after that coat of primer is applied ? What is the "blocking" process specifically and what tools will I need? Thanks for all the help graemlins/waving.gif

Block sanding is just sanding with a hand held snnd paper holder so that the sanding is done evenly flat. If you sand just holding the paper in your hand then the finsh won't be as evenly flat, thus causing waves in the finished product. :D

Hey now this is a subject I know well.... Go to your paint shop and they should have many "blocks" that you can use to block the car out. A flexable block works well on a 70 with all its curves, around doors ect. From reading on this site, the best thing to use on long flat areas are 5 gallon paint sticks as you can get at home depo. Just wrap the paper around them and go at it. Always go in an x pattern. This cuts the high spots and leaves the low spots. Works great. Last, once you think you are done, prime again, block again. The more you do here the better the paint will look once finished. You can wet the area down with wax,oil remover or even water, look down the panel and that is what it will look like with paint, tells the story of the blocking!!! Well good luck this in my option is the hardest part of the whole build, also do a search on the subject, there is a lot of info on here that will be very helpful. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
