Rob,,,,I don't own a Chevelle wagon,,,but do own a 1965 Chevy Impala wagon with a factory elec. rear window in the tail gate. On this wagon there are 2 switches,,,,the first is mounted under the dash to the left of the steering colunm and under the head light switch,,,,the second is mount in the rear on the drivers side rear wheel well pad,,,this is because my wagon has a factory optional third seat. Hope this helps. Alan

as far as i know its factory. the car was a drag car and the switch is connected to the harness but its laying on the floor by the brake pedal. i dont see where it would bolt to on the dash? left side, right? i guess i should have wrote that the first time. thanks for the replies so far.

Do you have a '65 Assembly Manual? It would show it in there. If not, give a shout and I'll look it up in my assembly manual when I get home tonight.

Bummer, it's not shown in the assembly manual. It must have been installed by Fisher Body and not at the Chevy assembly stage. My body manual does not show where the switch mounts, just where the wiring goes to the front.

My accessories manual does not show anything either. Sorry, I've come up dry.

Surely someone out there with a 64/65 wagon has a power rear window?

Rich,
Thanks for posting this in the Resto section... That's where I saw it.

The switch is mounted under the dash in a rectangular hole just to the left of the steering column. It's the same hole used by the convertible power top switch.

Oh, do you mean the hole that is already punched into the dash panel metal? I know the hole you are talking about. I've always wondered what it was there for! (Remember, I own a coupe.)

I concur. Thats the hole. Matter of fact convertibles, and wagons used the same switch. I learned that in my search for one smile.gif

On a hardtop or sedan, Rich, the hole was used for the rear defroster switch, I believe.
