Looking to install new dual exhaust on wag/small block.Did elky's use dual's and would same system fit wag? Would length be the same? It would need to exit behind rear wheels. Would also need opinons on mufflers with a mellow tone nothing to loud but have a nice low rumble. I have a local guy who will build me a system but looking for what other long roof owners have done with their's. Thank's Jim.

catalog lookup.

Chevelle station wagon is often same chassis as El Camino.

Stock dual exhaust ought to be adequate "performance" unless you're going drag racing which I hope you wouldn't do on public streets. Even then, I suspect that an objective comparison would show a negligible difference stock system compared to the "Blowfaster" et. al. expensively-hyped systems.

For the life of me, I can't understand why people want to hear their exhausts--whoops, I just figured it out: they want other people to hear their exhaust and figure maybe the owner of that car has a "hot" engine.

Sure doesn't do me any good when the guy next door cranks up his throbbing, roaring, rumbling, resonating, rattling, rasping, etc. etc. car or truck in the driveway at 4:15 AM.

JJ'65,
Thank's for the input&link. My wagon is a stock 350 w/stock manifolds just for cruisin&show. I put a stock Garder Exhaust on my convert because when I got it had Flow masters & drove me crazy on the hiway all I heard was ringing in my ears & not the radio,so I understand where you are comming from. The problem with the wagon is some one plumbed the exhaust wrong. It exits out the back which is not good. Also pipes are hand made, angled wrong & hit underneath and can't be staighten out.
Like the sound of a nice mellow tone. thought if I had to replace system why not.Don't want it loud so to disturb the neighbors, they'd run me off! Jim. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif

yes the wagon uses the same exhaust as the elcamino. it exits behind the rear wheels. i have always had someone custome bend my pipes, but stock elky duals would be fine for you. also any performance muffler should sound pretty good.

Yes, the elky exhaust should work fine, with the exact same bends. The elky floorpan is even very similar to (if not the same as) the station wagon (which is why there is a 'smuggler's box' under the front edge of the bed)
