I would double check the rear U-joint to make sure it is centered properly

If its not the driveshaft, and hopefully it is.... I would jack up the rear and check the axles bearings for slop/wear and axle hubs for straightness (if you don't know the new rear was good before installing it)

Good luck! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Put jackstands under the rearend and run the car to 50mph on the speedo. Have someone look at everything. It sounds like you might have a bent axle flange or such.

And be verry verry carefull.. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif
Put chucks in front and behind the front wheels and you might want to back the car in the garage so that if it did fall it would go out the door and not into the back wall..

Im sure all you guys know this stuff I just dont want anybody to get hurt http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

well i have read this post and the other, and my suggestion i don't think anybody reccomended it yet but here goes, take the driveshaft loose at the rear end and rotate 180 degrees and reinstall and see if that changes the vibration if it does then the driveshaft is at fault if it doesn't then the rear end is most likely the culprit. hope this helps.JIMK

Hey people, here is some info on rear end, went for drive to ck what rpm vibration starts, its 2500 rpm,and stopped car and put in 1st gear and went 2800 rpm,and was fine,no vibrations,2nd gear,2800 rpms,no vibration,3rd gear 2500 rpms, had vibration in 3rd gear only at 2500,rpms and up,what do u think of this info, does it help any, thanks again, you all have been so helpful, this is a 350 turbo, and 355 gear

doesn't really help, your engine rpm and drive line rpm will be differant in each gear this tells you your vibration is at how many mph in 3rd at 2800 engine rpm.if you put it in 4th at the same mph but engine rpm is say 2100 is the vibration still there? try the driveshaft rotation i described and see if it changes like my post said if it does change then problem is in driveshaft if not then the rear end is probably whats wrong. your vibration is a speed problem not engine rpm related.JIMK
