I'm in the process of parting out a 64 Olds Vista Cruiser and want to know what parts will interchange with a 64 2dr wagon. Parts of specific interest are.... The tailgate power window regulator, radiator, fan shroud, all parts of a/c system, power brake booster, power steering pump and box and then the catch-all.... "anything else that is interchangeable" I got a guy wanting the fan shroud but don't want to cut loose of it 'till I know I can't use it. MAX in Salem Or.

MAX,
I would say that everything on the frame and down from there would interchange. A-arms, rearend, etc. Rear window reg should be the same.
The fan shroud is more than likely very different.
Some A/C parts may interchange, but the obvious things such as brackets and inside ductwork is probably different and model specific.
Power brake booster should be the same.

Sell the fan shroud to the poor guy for crying out loud.

Max,

I can't help you too much for interchanges but just so you know, my buddy's father in-law is building a 64 2 door wagon and lives just down the freeway(Albany) from you. The guy doing some of the work has a bunch of el caminos and could probably come up with some parts if needed. When you need to start looking shoot me an email. BTW have you checked out the New Oregon Chevelle club? www.chevelles.net/oregon (http://www.chevelles.net/oregon) . Good Luck

There was a Plain Jane looking 64 Chevelle wagon at Nashville a couple of years ago that the owner had grafted a Vista Cruiser top onto (plus a big block under the hood http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif ). Chuck Hanson (ACES1) ran an article on it Chevelle World v5-3. Here is the cover shot (http://www.chevelles.com/aces/covers/vol5-3_full.jpg).

The Vista Cruiser & the Buick Sportwagon used a stretched 120" wheelbase instead of the 115" that Chevelles and other A-bodies used.
Those Olds 330s could move, no thanks to the Jetaway (Powerglide). Generally they came with tough rear ends on the Olds, but I don't know the specifics for the '64s.
You could probably use a lot from it on your 2-dr wagon. I recall a guy that put a rolled but new '66 442 frame under a '57 Nomad, used the interior right down to the dash. O.K., so I'm getting carried away...
