can i change out the body to frame rubber by maybe loosening all, and then jacking the body slightly just enough to remove and replace them one-at-a-time? or is it more complicated than this? thanks in advance

Try a search on "body mounts" and get a lot of ideas here. It is pretty simple. Loosen one side at a time and jack up the body with 2 jacks. Remove the old mounts one at a time and replace with new. Lower the body and fully tighten the bolts. The worst problem may be rusted in place mount bolts. Those complicate the job a lot.

I recently replaced all the subframe bushings on my 70 Chevelle with new polyurethane bushings.

I found the best method was to leave the wheels on the ground, and loosen but not remove all the bolts going through the old bushings. You want to allow the body to tilt upward on one side while you replace that side's bushings. Leave the other side's bushing bolts slightly loosened but in place, to keep the body from twisting off the frame.

If you have an automatic transmission, you should disconnect the shifting linkage or at least turn the ignition key to unlock the shifter. I nearly broke my shifting linkage or trans case by leaving it in Park during the bushing swap. You might also need to disconnect the steering shaft at the rag joint.

Remove all the subframe bushing bolts from one side. Use two jacks and some 2x4s (to spread out the weight) to lift the body on one side of the car. Replace that side's bushings, lower down the car, and start the bolts back in, but don't tighten them yet.

Repeat the process on the other side, then tighten all the bolts to specifications. Reattach anything that was disconnected.

I had a problem with the bolt located under the driver's left foot. The nut was spinning freely inside the frame. I had to remove the inner fender well to access the nut. I welded the nut in place before tightening the bolt. Picture of this is available at: http://www.geocities.com/frankbannon/cars/chevy70/suspension01.jpg
