My 68 El Camino is finally on the road after a freshen up of the motor with a new cam and lifters from Summit, new complete gasket set, brass freeze plugs, new plugs, good set of wires, new cap and rotor, all new drum brakes, wheel cylinders and hardware kits, and a new exhaust 2 1/2 ", all new tires, and many other misc. items. I installed new wheel bearings inner and outer for both sides, new upper and lower ball joints both sides , an outer tie rod end and just got a new front end alignment and this ELKY runs and drives like a CHAMP !! Its AWESOME to drive. You can steer it with one finger its so smooth. I am really pleased with this CAR/TRUCK . It is really a pleasure for me to drive. Ive been waiting since March of this year to drive it, WOW !! graemlins/beers.gif graemlins/beers.gif graemlins/beers.gif smile.gif tongue.gif Mark ----------------------------------------------------------------------------1968 Chevelle Malibu (Weekend Cruiser) 1968 El Camino (Daily Driver)

Congratulations, I'm glad your having fun with it. There really is no feeling quite as good as getting a car running after a long repair or upgrade. graemlins/beers.gif

congratulations.
isn't it funny when you do one upgrade others kind of get lumped into the project. :D

when i changed my water pump, it tuned into a 3 week affair after repainting everything and replacing the alternator (heck... while i have everything apart) ;)

you are correct... the best thing is to drive it.
