My 68 Elky got a motor from my 69 Chevelle (that I sold a few months ago) , A STRONG Running 307 . I freshened it up with a new d. roller timing chain and gears, complete gasket set, a Summit Xtreme Energy Cam and matching Lifters, dist. cap and rotor and a good set of 8mm wires. Had the valves adjusted this past Sunday and it really sounds great. I cant wait to drive it. The throttle response is excellent. I got the windsheilds out of it now,and I have to put the front end back together and install new brakes, hardware kits and wheel cylinders for both front and rear. I just know that this is going to be a fun car/truck. Mark -------------------------------------- 1968 Chevelle Malibu (Weekend Cruiser)-------------------------------1968 El Camino (Daily Driver)

I bought the Elky in March of this year and been working on it since. The motor had a severly cracked block on both sides of the motor, alot of spider-webbing cracks too. I never saw one that bad before. I sold my 69 Chevelle Malibu and bought the 68 El Camino. I wanted to be able to haul some things but did not want a truck (always had Chevelles). So what better way than a El Camino, a Chevelle front end with a bed in the back end. I just want to be able to haul things like 2x4's and 4'x8' sheets of plywood, sacks of concrete mix once in a while. Not to haul gravel and dirt, thats what dump trucks are for. Anyway I am about 2 weeks away from getting it on the road, thats with working on it a little each day after work and on my days off. I cant wait to drive it. It will be my daily driver. The body and undercarrage is in really good shape, and I am going to keep it that way by maintaning everything.
