OK I know this probably belongs in the El Camino section somewhere but I thought more folks with a possible answer would see it here. I am putting a new rubber mat in the bed of the 67 Elky I just bought and since I have to cut the mat from a 6' x 8' piece of rubber I made a cardboard pattern for the passengers side wheel well which protrudes into the bed.
I thought the drivers side wheel well would be indentical but just for the heck of it I turned the pattern over and placed it against the well and was suprised to see the well is different than the passenger side. The rear of the well is more angular than curved as it comes back to the side of the bed.
I have not looked in any of my books yet including the service manuals and assembly manuals but just wondering if anybody here has a theory or answer why they are different? Gas filler is on the drivers side but don't see why that matters.
Any experts out there in the know? :D
Thanks in advance
Chuck
