Does anyone have a pic. of a 68-72 Elky with air cond. I need to see the cover over the firewall and the rest of this set-up looks like. Outside in the engine compartment someone took the AC from this 68 Elky. All I see is a square opening with a door and part of the heater core. Inside under dash looks to have everything there, The box and dash controls and cables. Can I just hook the heater hoses up from the heater core to the engine block and water pump and make this work for me ? Will the heater work fine ? Do I need to close off the square panel in firewall ? Or can I make a heater from a 68 or 69 Chevelle Non-AC , heater box work ? Has anyone ever done this before or run into this problem before ? This 68 Elky will be my Daily Driver so I do need the heater to work and I dont want to butcher or cut up anything in case someday I could get the rest of the AC parts that someone has robbed from this Elky. You will need either the A/C box cover or the standard heater cover because the blower motor is attached to it under the fender. You can run the hoses to the heater core just fine as long as it is not leaking and sheet metal over the square hole but you will not have heat other than radiant.
I would you look for the A/C box or heater from any 68-72 A body and use that.

I believe the 70-72 are the same, 68-69 were different.. as were 66 67.. I had bought a delete box from a 69 and it was not the same mounting as the 71. I have seen a lot of ac box setups on e-bay for that year.. :cool:

Firewall opening is different I was going to do the change-over and decided not to do it,I have firewall template I cut out of 72 el camino with air
It can be used to sheet metal screw in position and mig in place, I'm sure there are other ways to get it done ,this was just my plan , I still have this piece and can send Pic if you want
