I have been driving past a 68 El Camino sitting on the edge of someones property with a 4 sale sign in the windshield on my way to work the past couple of days. Well, I stopped this morning and took a quick look at it. It appeared to be all original and with everything there.
It's a 307 automatic. The body is very Very straight and the interior looks to be completly original. I got to work and called the number. A gentelman answered the phone and said that his best friend, (the original owner, just turned 90 years old) had to quit driving, and that he was selling it for him. The car needs a complete restoration, but what a start. This thing is as I said Very straight. He said it runs, he just put a new battery in it. So heres the deal, I asked him, how much. He said, Oh I'm going to try and get him two thousand for it. I asked him what if I had cash in hand, what would his bottom dollar be, and his reply was that he would drop a couple hundred. So, now my wheels are turning, thinking if I had room in my garage, I would be all over this for $1,800 and I could even drive it home. The problem is I don't have room, and it deserves to be inside.
I even thought, I bet I could make some money parting it out, but it's really too restorable being all original, and it would be a shame to do that. So, that brings me to why I am posting this. If anyone is seriously interested, e-mail me and I'll give you the information. as I said I drive past it every day to work.
