Will this cause some "tailgate" discrimination amongst the masses? As in, you guys have one and I don't. tongue.gif

Anyone know the number of 66 Bigblock Elkys built... The number of 1966 325HP El Caminos according to sales records is 1865. The number of 360HP and 375HP El Caminos is not known because the totals for those options are for both SS396 and El Caminos. I've done some speculation, though, and my guess is that there were about 1043 360HP El Caminos and maybe another 130 of the 375HP versions. This would make the total number of 1966 big block El Caminos about 3000.

Ijust got my first El Camino last Sunday. Its a 1968 with a 350 truck motor that has a blown head gasket(hope thats all) original 2 speed powerglide trans. Its been a southwestern car all its life and never had any body panels replaced or patch work on it. It has a super straight body on it . But its going to need a little attention under the front windshield molding and under the rear window molding. I am going to pull the engine out of it this weekend and pull the heads off to see if any heads are warped or not. If not , im going to put a complete gasket set on it and a brass soft plug set on it while its out. Ive had several 68 and 69 Chevelles over the years but this Elky is really a COOL Car. I just know its going to be so much fun . Mark 1968 Chevelle Malibu (Weekend Cruiser) 1968 El Camino (Daily Driver)

This will be a good spot to get elkie info. There are a lot of unique things about these cars/trucks. Ours is registered as a passenger car.
Chevelleman, you can get the rear window repair panels, inner and outer from National Parts Depot. Good guys to deal with.

Thanks Keith, I d
eal with NPD and OPGI all the time for parts for my 68 & 69 Chevelles. Its not that bad to need new metal on the rear window. Worst is up front under front windshield. Theres a few small holes at the bottom under front windshield. I may have to fab. something there dont know for sure yet. Both front and rear windshields do need resealed and cleaned up in that area , POR-15 and new butyl tape in those areas. But first I will pull the motor this weekend and check it out and replace all the gaskets and install a brass soft plug kit,and go from there.
