: Quarter to trunk extension seam

I currently have a 70 vert. The seams where the quarters meet the trunk extension have been smoothed over. Is this correct or are the seams supposed to be visible with seam sealer similar as the coupe seams?

Pretty sure visible, with just seam sealer. Otherwise they will crack.

The original is leaded in with no visible seam. The hardtop shows the seam but not the vert.

I was on the losing end of discussion with a judge from Super Chevy over this issue. They moved me into the modified class calling it a "body modification" saying I filled in the seams. They were wrong.

Not sure about 70's but my 69 had the seams lead filled. The hard tops were not filled in 69. It's true that they do tend to get hairline cracks at the lead seams.

My 70 were filled also so that is how I did them after repairs were made.

My 70 convertible was filled- had them filled again on the repaint and already starting to crack, obviously the body guy did a crummy job. My 70 hardtop is not filled

OK Guys,
Im Just about to strip the 70 down to bare metal to start the rustification on her. When i get to the center panel ill take extra care and see just whats in it and how it is done. PS, anyone have a top frame for the windshield? Mine is full of pin holes and rot. I'm scared to take a grinder to it in fear of seeing just how bad it is.

So this is what the frame stiffeners are for! I need to get some before I do any painting.

Thanks Daren. Really, thanks.

My 69 has the seams filled also and I left them alone, but they have a hairline crack.
