Using BASF R-M products, how EXACTLY do you blend or "melt" new clear coat into old clear coat?

I'm using DC88nr Diamond Clear. I have the technical reference manual, but it doesn't seem to provide the exact steps.

Do I melt the edge before laying the clear or after?

Should I use UBR100 or HR50?

That's probably an answer to somebody's question, but certainly not mine.

Why do people have to post just to get post count up?

With all due respect, I believe that Al was indeed answering your question. he left out a lot of the details, but answered it none the less. http://216.40.249.192/mysmilies/contrib/geno/wink.gif
Sometimes it's better to re-clear the entire panel instead of trying to blend it in. Some colors will really show where the clear has beed patched in.
Here's how I blend in clear when I have to.

Sand surrounding area (old clear coat) with 800

Mix the clear coat (properly mixed/reduced/stirred) in one gun and in another, straight slow drying clear coat reducer.
With the reducer, spray the surrounding area. You have to spray it on THIN and with the most atomization possible. Let it sit and flash off. Spray again.

Just as it flashes, spray the clear coat on starting in the repaired area, and just beyond.

let sit for a few minutes and LIGHTLY spray reducer on the clear EDGES.

Repeat procedure for second coat.

Don't use much reducer. Your just trying to 'MELT' the new clear into the old.
