I've got a 1967 and the boot clips just won't stay attached to the stainless trim on the rear corners. I've had people recommend installing a snap in each corner; male part attached to the stainless and the female part on the boot. I just don't know about having a snap there all the time.
Any other solutions?

Hey Dennis.
If I remember correctly.....
I had read a post where someone else had the same problem. They had a great solution, to use the plasic raceway from a Wiremold 400 track. I beleive they found it very reliable and the raceway can be found at any HomeDepot/Lowes.
You can probably search the database for 'wiremold' or 'boot clips', etc... to see if you can find the post. I hope it works out for you.

I never had a problem with the snaps coming undone with my repro boot/clips. Had them on all the time for 8+ years. I didn't have a top, so I rarely took them off...

My boot is as taught as a drum when I stretch it on. It's the outside rear corners that won't stay down. They just keep popping off. The rest is fine. It's like the stainless trim doesn't have an "edge" to get the clip under.

Try putting the clips on, on a straight section of the molding and sliding it into place. If that doesn't help then switch the clips that don't stay down with others that do or replace them with new replacements. The stainless molding could be damaged but I think you would see a visible dent or ding. Chances are it's just the clips are not going on all the way or they are old and tired...

The clips are new, and I've tried the ones that are on there now (plastic) and others (metal) and they both don't stay put. If you were to look at a section view of my stainless trim, the sides are just that, sides, and they don't seem to roll under at all, leaving nothing for the clips to grab. There isn't a ding on them, they look perfect, and I know there the orginals as I bought the car from the second owner in bone stock condtion. How much should the trim wrap under itself?

I know the Camaro and Chevelle clips look the same but can only guess the well molding edges are about the same too. My camaro molding on the inside (facing the top well) rolls in and then back out. There is a shallow defined lip that the big end of the clip catches on. The outter edge of teh molding matches the sharp shape of the small end of the clip. I believe mt molding is a GM piece.
