I'm in the process of redoing my convertible top frame. The tabs on the front header bow that hold
the tack strip are shot. Anybody encounter this problem before? Any advice on a solution for this
repair I'd appreciate.
Thanks, Rich. Its a 64 chevelle.

Rich, I had the same problem. Some of the tabs would have broke off if they were bent again. I cut the bad tabs off and welded in small sheet metal triangles cut to shape. I don't have the car finished yet, but the repairs look and feel solid.

Ed; Thanks for the info. What thickness tackstrip
is on the front headerbow? Mine was so far gone I couldn't tell what material was used for tacking
the top down. Also is the rubber seal available
aftermarket? Mine had small plastic pins
securing it to the bow.
thanks for the reply ed.

My front bow was rusted thru, I bought the replacement for about $400 and it came with the tabs your talking about. Seemed like a lot of money for that part, but I don't think there is high demand and used ones are usually junk.

The correct tack strip for the front is the wider, thin one. About 1/4"x 3/4"
