The flat piece slips through the slit and it has a hole in it. Line that hole up with the hole in the plastic and then pop rivet them on. Once they are pop riveted on you can slid the other piece into place. simple to do you just need a pop rivet gun.

Wayne, You can make fun, but it works.
After going through two sets of the clips not working, I found that Wiremold 800 nonmetallic (PVC) raceway cover snaps over the trim strip and holds. I cut some and installed them inplace of the clips. Been there for over 10 years. I have to reach inside and pull up on the HillBillie clips to release.
800 Wiremold is a Elect product.

Bob..
I would never make fun..odf an inovative idia..
will look into that...
I spent to many hours polishing the pinch weld. and am vary read VARY conserned about these plastic coated steel clips. and the molding ?
Maybe I am just paranoid But IMO one ounce of prevention is worth 10 pounds of cure.
nd an ALL plastic clip is desirible over stamped plastic coated steel...

Ted.. the way they are install.
The factory style plastic coated clip that are attached to the outer edge of the boot, and it's snaped over the pinch weld molding sides and across the rear.
you position the clip on the inside edge and snap it over the molding
and remove by preasing on the back of the clip through the boot...
