The pump on my 66 malibu quit about a month ago. Can anyone tell me if the pumps from modern cars like late model camaros and firebirds will work? I am not worried about originality as the car is not 100% original and you can't see the pump anyway as it is under a cover.

Has anyone made this swap? What about the ones from Labarons?

the 80's mustangs, the 80's starfires and also the chrysler k cars and lebarons all work...you have to change the pigtails but no problem...they are a dime a dozen at the pick n pulls i've also used the lines from a k car too!!! one line was a little short but i lengthened it using another line and a compression fitting from the ahrdware store ....new pump, lines and all for less than $40 ..pretty cool....i know have three pumps just in case. the lengthened line worked just fine till i threw a wheel and tire on it and broke it. when i did i decided to go ahead and spend the big bucks and get the "right" lines from opg......and guess what...the lines are WAY LONG!
i was happier with my junkyard lines....when i break these i will go junkyard next time. by the way when you refill the resevoir use tranny fluid not brake fluid....

yes it says brake fluid...but it really just needs HYD, fluid,,,auto tranny fluid works great...and if you break a line it doesn,t stink quite so bad and it is non coeeosive so it doesn't eat anything it touches

Well I can answer my own question. A pump from a 92 Mustang will work as well. The existing hose connections screw right in. The only thing that is different is the foot pattern so you have to drill new holes. I removed the existing rubber feet from the the 92 pump and made a set of standoffs from 3/8" fuel line and used four long screws to mount it. It worked out great and with the pump cover in place, you can't even tell its a new ford pump. The pump looks like new and the best part was i got it for $55. Its much faster than the old pump as well.

Now i just have to live with the fact that there is a Ford part on my chevelle!
