Is there supposed to be something on the back of the rear seat? My car has nothing on the back, and with the top up, you can see the springs/foam through the rear window. I don't think that is correct. Anybody?

Yes, there's supposed to be a vinyl clad cardboard cover matching the interior color. It's held on with screws and the metal strip with the track on the top that your top boot attaches to.

Sounds like you are missing the well liner also. It is a vinyl well that encloses all sides of the well under the back window where the top goes down. With a well iner you can't see the cardboard on the back of the seat.

On the 64-65 cars I know the well liner attaches to the rear seat brace about 12" below the top of the rear seat. The cover we mentioned fills in that space. I'll try to post a picture when I get home from work.

Please do post a pick. I have a well liner, but no back to the seat. I've found those reproduction for pretty inexpensive (like $30) so will get one, but would like to see pictures of them and the strip you are talking about.

Thanks!

Brian

I hope this helps. The strip has a groove formed in it to hold a velcro strip for attaching the boot. Any A body convertible will have this, so finding one might be easier.

I don't have the strip and I had never even seen one until this picture. Perhaps this is another reason my boot doesn't fit properly.
Since it not available aftermarket, I will probably have to make one when I get the time. A few dimensions or even a cross-section would be great help if anyone has the time to check into it.
TIA

I'll see what I can do about posting something detailed better. As I stated. Any "A" body convertible should have this. Pontiac GTO,Tempest, Lemans, Buick Skylarks, Olds F85s..etc. A "G" body car may even yield one, but would likely be longer.
