My top is in good condition, however when up I get a tremedous amount of wind through the front. The canvas lays directly on the header of the windshield. Shouldn't there be some rubber to give it a proper seal?

Yes, there is supposed to be a rubber seal that runs the full width of the forward section of the conv top frame. The seal is what's supposed to rest on the windshield header.
