I've been told that it is best to leave it to professionals.

I was quoted $540 to install the sunfast cloth top with glass window (that I bought) on my '68. I will pay it gladly...

You could do it yourself, but figure it usually takes a professional about 8 hours to do this... How long would that be for someone with no experience???

I have also learned to "shop" for an upholstery shop BEFORE buying a top. Not only do these guys know which companies offer the best/easiest-to-install tops, but I found most shops did not want the liability of installing a customer-supplied top... for me, they would install it, but no guarantee... I ended up spending more total than if I had just bought the top from the shop that did the install...

I had a pro come to my place and put my top on. .and I am glad I did,, I watched and think I have the ability to do most ...except for having the new staple welt to install i nthe rear bow, and a staple gun and a sewing machine to to stich up the front header seal welt area.

On second though,,, let it to the pro's graemlins/hurray.gif

I can't find anyone in the MD/VA area to do mine for less than about $1,300. I'd jump at the chance to pay $540 for someone to put a top on that I bought from Ground Up or wherever. But I'm a long way off from that.
