My69

I'm in the process of removing the body off of the frame of my 69 Malibu. In order to support the firewall, I tack welded a support piece from the 'A' pillar on the passenger side back to the inside of the passenger rear seat area (near where the rear window crank is located). Before removing the body off the frame, should I also brace the driver's side to keep the body from twisting when I lift it up off the frame?
Would it be better if I relocate the support to the middle of the dash area / rear floor pan?
Thanks,
Todd

honestly you would be a lot better off removing the front clip. just my two cents. a lot less room for error IMHO.
I should have mentioned that I've already removed everything forward of the firewall. I will remove the windshield to reduce the weight above the firewall this weekend.

As with any project, there are many ways to skin a cat....
When removing a conv body, I like to remove the doors ( mark with spray paint or scrib the hinge locatiion ( Will save you lots of re fit time)
and then weld a brace across the top of the empty door frame and one on an angle from he front lower door at the floor edge to just below where he top bace is secured.
I have seen on heavy conv. Chevy ,BOP full size cars, a brace then across from door to door and then two braces from the to the rear trunk shelf fall off area,
IMO you need more then ONE brace
1 1/2 X 1 1/15 angle iron...

Here's how I braced mine. http://pic5.picturetrail.com/VOL97/466970/2986544/46291551.jpg
Looks like I need to take a step back and relook how I did mine. I'm not happy with my first setup. I don't think it would have stopped the firewall from sagging. Might as well do it right on my second try.
Thanks for the help.

Great tips. I'm filing a copy of this post away for future reference! I'm going to need it in a couple years.
