First I would like to say Hi to everyone this is my first post on any board. My question is what frames can be used to replace the rotted frame on my 1967 chevelle convertible. I cant get a straight answer from anyone I talk to. I know it is a boxed frame but I keep getting different answers. Any Help would be appreciated.

The answer is simply a convertible frame. El Camino frames are boxed but longer. Coupe frames are the right length but not boxed. You could modify a El Camino frame by having it shortened or you could box a coupe frame. But your best bet if you just want to just swap frames would be another convertible frame.

not sure on the length of the '67 but I do know that '64-'67 elky frames are the same. I had to pick one up for my '65 rag top, it happens to be a '67 elky frame.
Spent $100 and had a frame shop take 3 inches out of it to make it fit my chevelle.

I don't have those answers, but I do have the body off my 67 convertible. I can give you any measurements you need.

pardon me jim, i think the elky frames are the same in his year, but i am not sure64-67, ALL Chevelles (El Caminos, Wagons, 4-doors, converts, etc) had the same wheel base...
The El Camino and Wagon frames are longer, BUT all that extra length is BEHIND the rearend. To use an El Camino frame, one would simply modify the rear portion under the trunk...
The other A-body frames should work...
There might be another difference (I think), and that is the rear coil springs and the "pocket" on the frame for the springs... I think 67 used the later style small pigtail (upper). All this means is the rear springs must match the frame (64-66 or 67)... Not 100% sure on this though...

From the research I did for my frame I agree that all A body frames will work, and that the additional length is between the last two body mounts.

The GTO frame will work.. But just like an El Camino Frame it has that extra length in the trunk area.. I used a 65 BOP fram on my 64 rag and had to shorten it 3.27" taken between the side body mount and the rear body mount...
not that hard a job...

Will a 70 Cutlass convertible frame work for a 70 Chevelle convertible?

Yes Tireburner..
That Cutlass A body will work on your car... I am under the impression late madel BOP frames . You do not have to shorten
like the 64-67 do... But it's and real easy check to measure the diferance of the rear side body mount to the rear tail body to confirm that.
