Just wondering how many Canadian built Malibu SS convertibles were built in 1966? I havn't seen another like mine any where. They had the Maibu SS script on the rear quarters and ss interior package (buckets, floor shifter, clock, etc) but they didn't have the blacked out grill or SS hoods on them. Wondering how many are left out there.
any help would be great ;)

Your best bet is to call GM of Canada for documentation on your car. The paper work you get will tell how many were sold new in Canada. It will also give all the options the car came with from the factory. I got the info on my 68 Beaumont SD396. It cost about $33 USD, $45 Canadian. The guy you need to talk to is George Zapora at 1-905-644-5843.

I have a very solid Canadian built 1966 Malibu SS convertible in Yellowknife. I have letter from George Zapora verifying the SS status and option package. 396/360HP, 4spd. Numbers correct and/or matching engineering data sheet. It is in the middle of a frame-off. This is 1 of 757 produced for sale in Canada.
Thanks
Jay

Out of the 757, only 50 were built with the 396. I'm not sure whether the 757 figure would be for the same model # (613667...) or if they are referring to actual Malibu Convertibles with the A51 Sports Option. I suspect it is the former (i.e. all V8 Malibu Convertibles).
There were 499 Malibu SS coupes made with 396 power for '66.

You might confirm with George but the 499 number with 396 engine included convertibles is my understanding ...
