Do you guys notice wierd vibrations at certain speeds and road conditions? I've noticed our '70 feels much more "flimsey" than our '69 Hardtop, even though the '70 has all new bushings and suspension parts. Is this normal for ragtops? It is like you can almost feel the car twisting and flexing.

Mine feels like my frame rails are made from 2 big leaf springs. I have rebuilt my front and rear suspension w/ new shocks, but when I hit a dip at high speed it feels like I don't have any shocks at all.

I have checked the frame many times, but found no evidence of damage or rust. I don't know the complete history of my car, so it may have been abused at some point in its life, but I think that chevelle frames were just not that well designed.

Whew! thanks... as strange as this sounds, I am glad to hear you have these problems too.

Even though everything is new, and the car is very solid, the '70 vert feels like it is flexing all over the place, even compared to the our '69 Hardtop with old suspension parts. I guess the roof adds a good deal of structural integrity, and the boxed frame rails on the 'vert just are not enough to compensate.

It is particularly bad when cornering on rough surfaces at certain speeds. The car gets some wierd harmonics going... feels like it is trying to imersonate the Tacoma-Narrows bridge (well, not THAT bad, but you get the picture...). smile.gif

John

We have the same thing here, too. You have to drive these cars to appreciate how much suspension technology has improved over the last 34 years!!

If you figure something out, please let me know!

Thanks.
