Gentlemen: I have a one year old white convertible top on my '69. It has a kind of grey grungy looking dirt on it. On the side, at the back, above the quarters, there are streaks. I have used mild cleansers, a nylon nail brush and lots of elbow grease. Nothing I do will touch this pesky dirt. Before I turn to harsh chemicals which might damage the vinyl, does anybody have any suggestions as to product or where I might be failing in this process? Any assistance much appreciated. R.B. :(

All I can think of is Wesleys Bleach White. I don't know if it would be too harsh though. Perhaps if you dilute it down alot. I'm glad I have a black top.

I have been using Wesleys on my white top & white interior for several years with no problems with it at all. When I do the top, I will wet it down, soap it up then spray Wesleys all over & scrub it with a brush & it comes beautifully clean every time. I do this a couple of times a year. When I do the interior, I just spray it on out of the bottle, let it soak in for 30 seconds, scrub it with a brush & presto, I have a a clean interior.
Good Luck.
I love to give home made gifts, which one of the kids would you like?

Watch for my SS496 Chevelle as a pace car at Indy in 2011 (100 years after Grandpa Joe) IF THEY WILL LET ME !
We use Wesley's here, too, on a white top - with a brush and some elbow grease. Comes out looking brand new!

Wesleys Bleche-Wite says DANGER-CORROSIVE right on the bottle. I would think over several scrubbings it could and likely would start taking some of the luster out a newer top.
A couple years ago there was a big tire fire at a tire dump about five miles from my house. My car in the garage with the overhead door open recieved thousands of tiny black spots noticable on the white top. I used diluted purple cleaner and small brush being very gentle and trying to stay off the seams and threads to get it off(what a pain)
If anyone is useing harsh cleaners on their white top I would follow up with a good cleaner/conditioner every time!
On a black top I would only use a good cleaner/conditioner to keep the luster up once a month...don't forget, you get what you pay for!(also, say no to Armor All)
Convertible tops need lots of care to stay looking good...don't keep putting it off until like next week...Get busy soon or it could be to late graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I use Wesley's Convertible Top Cleaner and a long bristle Nylon Brush. But my top is black so I don't really know how it would look if it was white.
