Hey guys I need help finding the rear quarter window chrome for a 1965 ragtop. I am speaking of the piece that goes on the edge of the window and holds the rubber between the front and rear windows. Mine measures 15 3/8 inches tip to tip. I have ordered from 2 companies and both sent me pieces that measure 16 inches long. Anyone have any experience with this problem? Thanks..........

Yup, been there. I cut the extra off at the bottom. Nobody seems to reproduce them for ragtops.

Guess I hadn't considerd that as a possibility. Any tips on the best way to make that cut? Will a hacksaw make a smooth enough cut to not damage the chrome?

The piece is stainless not chrome plated. I used a pair of snips to get the angle. It was pretty easy. Stainless steel is a pain to cut with a hacksaw.

Wow that's strange. My original is some kind of chrome plated pot metal. Thats why they need replaced, the chrome is bubbling off the metal.
Consider having your originals restored. Guaranteed to fit! smile.gif

Good idea, but their structure has deteriorated too much. Can't consistently hold the gap where the glass fits. ;)

Joeks, its very possible you are correct about the originals being plated steel. The more I think about it, I recall the one I replaced being bubbled and rotted. The repops "appear" to be stainless as I stated earlier, but I may be wrong about that as well. You could try True Connections @ www.true-connections.com (http://www.true-connections.com) for a good used piece. They have the repops for $29.95 w/seal, but not specified for a convertible,so you might in the same boat you're already in.
