My top on my 1966 Chevelle goes up slowly about half way, then I have to help it the rest of the way. What is the process for checking this problem out?

Probably low on fluid. Need to first find out which type of fluid is in it then fill and bleed. Then look for leaks, it doesn't 'use' fluid, it went somewhere.

Mine was doing that and it was leaking inside the motor itself through one of the seals. Took it to a place to be rebuilt for $100. Works great now.
