: Convertible door guides
novadude Mar 24th, 04, 2:08 PM Hey guys... do you know if the door guides are available for a 70-72 convertible? I'm not sure if I am calling these by the right name. I am talking about the parts that bolt to the top of the doorjamb that are unique to convertibles.
Here is a link to similar parts for camaros:

These parts are missing from our '70.
Check with grounds up I believe thats where we got our set.
BAD415 Mar 25th, 04, 11:15 AM Those look exactly like what my 65 has. I would say they are the same. They're called
"Door Wedges" and for what they are (not much) they are awful expensive.
novadude Mar 25th, 04, 12:28 PM The problem is, the 70-72 used a different design that I cannot find. Can anyone post some pics of your 70-72 door jambs?
SS454JC Mar 27th, 04, 8:34 PM Hello,
Other GM ragtops used the same door jamb shims/guides as the 1970-72 Chevelles. Grabbed a set for $15 bucks off a mid sixties Pontiac Bonneville / Catalina in a junkyard.
I will try to take a picture and post the ones on my 1970 Chevelle.
Good luck, Joe

It's my understanding that these parts are now being reproduced for 70-72.They go in the $60--range. I have seen them on eBay.(The parts Place)I am sure our sponser should be caring them now. As stated by Joe, other A bodies of the same years use the same wedges.I bought mine from a Pontiac guy at a swap meet.........Jim
Chief Apr 16th, 04, 7:44 AM Is there anyplace that shows the location of the mounting on thed quarter panel side fo the door jamb? I had new quarters put on and need to get these back on. What is the purpose of these littel doo-dads anyways?? and how close do you shim them??
jerryr Apr 16th, 04, 9:59 AM I bought a set of ebay for my 69. They are called "door wedges". That's exactly what they do. The body tends to flex on our convertibles. These wedges just "snug up" the door when closed...
As far as mounting them, I don't know if it's in the assembly manual or not, but if you have your convertible doors, you should see where the one piece mounts on the door and where it should line-up with the other piece when the door is closed...just a thought.
Hope this helps.
novadude Apr 16th, 04, 11:55 AM On our car, the doors have the holes, but the parts are missing. The wedges fit near the top of the door jamb. It looks like nobody is reproducing these for 68-72 yet, as the only ones I've seen on ebay have been used.
Brob Apr 28th, 04, 5:31 AM Ive never really understood there purpose. There is no physical contact with my parts maybe I should make some hicker shims and so they will strike each other. It looks like they are to help keep the door tight when closed.
WayneK Apr 28th, 04, 4:52 PM what they are is like bumper
When the body flexes to keep the top of the door frame from contacting .
My 66 rag if you jacked up the front lower Drivers side cortrol arm.. you could not open the drivers door it was sooooo tight .
yes it had the orginial body bushings
when I did my 64, I shimmed it till there was interference with the car sitting on the level.
