YenkoChevelle69 Sep 29th, 04, 12:10 AM The yenko emblem on the tail panel is in the wrong spot. There's just something not right about the decals either.
Bomber '67 Sep 29th, 04, 12:27 AM Oh man is that funny. That car needs a total stripdown and nut and bolt restoration. Since it wasn't stored with any particular care, I'm going to guess that the old blue respray is hiding more than the original black paint.
I was scratching my head a couple of years ago when beautifully restored examples were bringing $80+k. Amazing to think now that a certain set of documents and provenance could be worth $350k. What puzzles me is what are the buyers of these cars thinking? If I were to go to a Barrett Jackson auction with $350k in my hip pocket I can guarantee that even after paying buyer's commisions, that I could walk away with several equally interesting cars that needed NO restoration.

slpin Sep 29th, 04, 12:29 AM it has a cool shifter though...........
dirty_dawg Sep 29th, 04, 1:01 AM You can still buy those I believe.
depley Sep 29th, 04, 1:01 AM I just wonder how many REAL cars like this would be seen just sitting on a local street like the picture shows. I mean that seems a bit careless for something he wants $350,000 for does't it?
depley Sep 29th, 04, 1:09 AM And yes the Yenko stripe on the side looks quite unusual. So unusual I would doubt its authenticity as a real yenko stripe. It should turn up at the tail end an go upwards, not run straight into the end more sso than it appears in the picture. For some reason the stripe looks unusually wide as well.

depley Sep 29th, 04, 2:05 AM checking the Yenko official list of cars that is most current that Serial Numbers does not appear in their list of authentic 69 Yenko Chevelles
Keith Tedford Sep 29th, 04, 7:02 AM I wouldn't worry too much. Anyone buying a Yenko is going to do his homework first, or have someone do it for him. It's amazing how poorly some of the fakes are done.

The stripes look funky, but the car has been repainted and it looks like the stripes are painted on as well. Don't know when they started making repro stripes, but if the car was repainted a while ago, they could have masked and painted the stripes simply because there were no stripes available. Doesn't really say anything about the authenticity of the car, IMO.
Gazzer Sep 29th, 04, 9:52 PM I'm with Vince,
I'd sell mine for $300K less. Ok, even $320K less
The truth of the matter is I wouldn't trade mine straight across for that car graemlins/sad.gif
