: COPO build sheet
Started taking my COPO apart today and after pulling the front seat out..low and behold there is a piece of paper stuck in the springs and hog ringed to the seat frame.....build sheet number three!! When I bought the car it came with two build sheets and a chasis broadcast sheet so I fugured the previous owner had scoured the car for docs...but I guess he missed that one...go figure. I'm happy, you can never have enough documentation. :D

Yes it is a copy.ALmost looks they were carbon copies as there are corrections written in by hand and they appear on all three sheets exactly the same. I now have three identical buildsheets for my car :D graemlins/thumbsup.gif

BK72SS Sep 2nd, 04, 12:22 AM Cool Albert. I wish atleast one the two buildsheets I have for my Chevelle were complete instead of partial. :(
Buildsheet #3 that you posted looks like what I found hog-ringed to the rear seat cushion of my Oshawa Chevelle. It was a 'Line 100' tag and listed the RPOs for my car as well as paint and interior code. Funny, mine was listed as model 13517 (Chevelle) and a 73517 (Beaumont).
Nice to find that in a COPO! They were listed as Malibu sport coupes with the Z25 SS396 package, L78 and COPO 9562 which was probably assumed to be a de-badging option, for political reasons within GM. Meanwhile the engine was the visual clone of the L78 but just happened to be an L72. I'll take about 4 or 5 of them thanks.
Dan Orgill Sep 2nd, 04, 7:31 AM Excellent! You can never have too much documentation! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
novadude Sep 2nd, 04, 2:11 PM That is cool! You didn't even need to go through Greg at DPE to get it! ;)
ACES-70 Sep 2nd, 04, 8:43 PM Great find Albert smile.gif
On the subject of build sheets,is there any way to clean-up a build sheet? I found one on my gas tank, but is largly unlegible. I even believe that it is from the wrong vehicle, but can't quite tell. Just wondering if you COPO guy's got a secret for that. Cool that you found it though, can't wait to see the finished product. graemlins/hurray.gif thanks,Dave.

Bain Sep 4th, 04, 10:41 PM Someone at Chevelle tech moderators took a couple of posts out, very naughty
the alternative is to remove you completely
your choice....

Keith Tedford Sep 5th, 04, 1:57 PM In disassembling our COPO Chevelle, the only build sheet that we found was in the springs of the rear seat back. It was only half there and was for an SS396 that was built 75 before ours. Luckily we still have the original bill of sale and GM of Canada documentation. Wanna share one of your build sheets with us. Just kidding. Nice find. It's great to have all the history on these cars. Eliminates the doubt.
There should be a law against removing a fellow chevelle owner especially one like mine from your club, but why don't you make the choice, coz I don't care
Buzzbomb Sep 9th, 04, 2:42 PM Bain,
AL is the one who edited your post! This is AL'S board and AL takes the TIME to keep it up and AL is the one who does a lot (maybe all?) of what it takes to keep this board going. So you know who makes the laws here? AL makes the laws. If he wanted you gone you would have been gone- but there is obviously still time for you so do us all a favor and keep pushing it.
alss,
That is totally cool that you found a buildsheet for your COPO. I really dont think it can get any better than that! Just think of the tons of research that is contained in that one document redface.gif
rocks66ss Sep 9th, 04, 4:54 PM Buzzbomb,
Ya just can't leave it alone can you.
Rocky
Joeks Sep 9th, 04, 10:56 PM Come on Al, don't we get to vote? I don't know how this board could possibily exist w/o Bain. ;) ;)

Rocky Yea, I can leave it alone. But after the 30+ pages of NOTHING (note- its GONE now tongue.gif ) , IMHO its time for Bain to drop it or go somewhere else. No one cares about his car anymore, and Im sure people are tired of his "the Chevelle board vs. ME" attitude. If he doesnt like this board or the way AL runs HIS board, go somewhere else- plain and simple. NO rules says if you own a Chevelle and have access to the internet, you MUST come here to post  . I realize he's trolling but, CMON.
Alss has the holy grail of Supercars. The paperwork. With that, he has NOTHING to prove, its all right there in black and white. NO research, NO QUESTIONS- PERIOD. graemlins/thumbsup.gif to you alss, you're a lucky guy!
Buzzbomb Sep 10th, 04, 2:06 PM Dbl post...Ooops
John D Sep 10th, 04, 7:20 PM Mr. "Bain", have you learned anything from this post?? Quit Whining!
ALbert now has in his hands 2 (two) genuine buildsheets, and chassis broadcast sheet that were provided by others. The "icing on the cake" is that he personally found buildsheet #3 (still attached to the car, matching the others) under the seat.
No obscure 3rd party document resources, no "friend of a friend of the 14th owner's 2nd cousin twice removed buddy owned it" stories, just GENUINE, IN-YOUR-HAND-FROM-YOUR-VEHICLE information. Until you can offer evidence of this magnitude about a vehicle, there WILL be a question about it's authenticity.
Sorry to put a downer on your post ALbert, but enough is enough. "Bain", go away.
alss Sep 10th, 04, 7:42 PM No downer...everyones free to post in this thread..adds to the discussion of documentation and the impoortance of it.Thats why it took 7 years to find a car I wanted to buy...first it was mostly unrestored..original carpet, interior.etc. second it had loads of paperwork. Thats where the money is!..I have been selling off my "non-paper" cars and only buying cars with factory paperwork. Had to sell two to buy the COPO but in the end it will be worth it. By the way dropped the body off to be stripped today...she'll be naked by tuesday :D

Do worst gentlemen, and Alss I am taking my seats a part tomorrow maybe I will find one!
