A friend has a '69 Nova that he claims is a Dickie harrell car. Does anyone know how to confirm if this is a real or a clone?

Well, one thing for sure. If its spelled like that anywhere on the car, its a fake. His name was Dicky Harrell. Here's some info on his creations.

Don Yenko only 'built' 37 of his version in '69. I haven't heard of '69 Novas from Harrell (or Fred Gibb Chevrolet) mostly Camaros from them as Harrell was racing funny cars by then, though he did have a dealership network.

Dick Harrell did in fact convert and/or tune several Nova's, some being COPOs. Ray Morrison owns likely one of the most famous ones. Dennis and Ann Hartweg had another that was a VetteFest last year. Kevin Suydam also has one. http://corvettes-musclecars.com/cgi-bin/emAlbum.cgi?c=show_thumbs;p=Supercars/1968%20Gibb%20COPO-Harrell%20427%20Nova I have been tracking one myself for about a year. For more info, check out www.yenko.net (http://www.yenko.net) The best thing I can suggest is to get the VIN and cowl tag info and speak to some of the DH specialists on the site. DO NOT make the info public until you can confirm it.

You can also go here to get more info on the Novas and Dickie or "Mr. Chevrolet" as he was know. www.dickharrell.com (http://www.dickharrell.com) The site is great and many of Dick's family are there as well as some of his former mechanics and racing partners.

Here is Helen Gibb's car. Originally sold by Gibb and now back home again.

Was there any '69 Novas built by Harrell? Most of what I see were either '68's or Camaros.

I personally know of no '69's built nor could I find any in a search. If there are any, they were likely conversions and not a COPO. Maybe your friends could be a Yenko. Wouldn't that be a $300,000 shame!!!
