As the head of the sYc, I am pleased to announce the release of all of the Yenko Vins that we have been able to collect to date. This was one of the original goals when the sYc was formed, to make as much information as possible, public. It took the efforts of a lot of very dedicated, and unselfish people to make this happen. To these folks, I say THANKS

Enjoy and happy hunting.

Al, Mahalo to you for keeping the Team Camaro/Chevelle sites alive and well. Tom C, Mahalo for the release of these numbers which no doubt will allow others to be able to find that dream Yenko painted over as a Plain Jane/SS/RS or Z28. Like Tom states Happy Hunting. Links take you straight to the VIN listings.

I thought that during 1969 that nearly a 1000
COPO/Yenko Chevelles were actually ordered, your list seesm short, is there more??

Or am I misinformed?

I am sorry I just went back and read my books and the estimated numbe rof COPO Chevelles was
about 323 with 96 L-72 being designated for automatic trans.

So is your list for Yenko Chevelles just for Yenko ordered cars and not necessarily the represented list of all COPO Chevelles?

Bain

Ok well I went back into a l;ot of different records and there were definetly more than 95 Yenko COPO chevelles made in 1969, a lot more so
maybe you guys have some more records you have't shown? Or maybe you just don't know at all.

Bain according to the inventory sheets that are available on Yenko copo chevelles there were 99 of them.As far as Chevrolet non Yenko copo chevelles I don't think, like the camaros, there is an exact number of them produced. The numbers 800-1000 has been thrown around for the camaros and the numbers 300-400 for the chevelles.Ed C. has some pretty good documentation on his site www.copo.com (http://www.copo.com) and we try to keep an update on copo cars on our site www.rabbitstoys.com (http://www.rabbitstoys.com) Its great team chevelle has started this section maybe it will pull more cars out.

We forget about the 1966 Yenko Stinger?

Chevy454
Jun 12th, 04, 7:58 PM
Nope, we didn't forget about the Stinger! We have some info on our Stinger page (http://www.yenko.net/dealers/yenko.htm#66-7Corvairs), but Charlie Doerge runs the Yenko Stinger Registry and has that information readily available.

Bain: you're confusing Yenko Chevelles with COPO Chevelles. So far we have determined that all Yenko Chevelles were COPO Chevelles, but not all COPO Chevelles became Yenko Chevelles. Everyone estimates that roughly 1/3 of the COPO Chevelles became Yenko Chevelles...

Dear COPO Loco,

Well all my assertions abvout my car being a possible COPO got the attention of the 5th owner of the car. 1982 - 2002. h He bought it in a rebuild stae and says unequivicolly in 1982 the car had a number matching engine that needed rebuilding. He styated he knew the 2nd 3rd and 4th owners and that the 2nd owner was a guy name Mark English of Largo, FL at the time. The car always had the 4:10 rear since the factory and the 427 Number matching engine as well.

I really need to contact this Mark English guy and find out who the 1st owner was.

Sadly thoguh the car is NOT in or near original condition with exception to maybe the engine and rear end. In fact this car was mostly raced, I don't even think based on what I know about the cars history now that it ever made it over 69000 miles. Mostly raced it's whole life. I had to pull everything apart to rebuild this car.

It's at ebay number 2483854868

If anyone has ever heard of this Mark English guy from Florida let me know, I would like to see if this was a true COPO or an L78 car

Al

If you could send me a pic of your trim tag I would compare it to the other COPO & Yenko Chevelle tags we have on file...
