I heard this weekend that they were discontinuing the BFG radial TA'S. Anybody else heard anything about this? The guy at a tire shop told a buddy of mine.

That's hard to believe. That's gotta be one of their best selling tires.

I guess the fellow at the tire shop couldn't understand it either. He sells a ton of TA's

Those 'silly' French are liable to do anything. Oh, maybe some don't realize that the Uniroyal/Goodrich Tire Company 'joined' the Michelin Group in 1990.

maybe the French are trying to punish the American muscle car owners over the Iraq war?

In all honesty, I wouldn't really see a loss there. I had a set of TA's on my daily driver Cutlass and the traction was horrible. The only thing they are good for is looks. There are much better tires out there. That's just my opinion though.

I'd have to agree. Back in the day, they were the only game in town. These days there are much better performance solutions out there. My Chevelle has Falken on it. Several friends are using Nitto.

News Release from:

http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/bfgapp/index.jsp

BFGoodrich® Tires is renaming its line of Comp T/A® Drag Radials to g-Force™ T/A Drag Radial. The new name reflects the brand's strategy of grouping high-performance tires under the g-Force T/A name. The newly named tires will arrive in stores on April 1, 2004.

Would'nt be a loss for me,
Last year doin 75 on the interstate a T/A gave out on the left front of my 69 and tore up the whole fender $1000.00 damage, never be able to match the paint
The tire tread came off and the tire still held air, tread flapped for a while till I got pulled over
Tire was only a few years old and had less than 3000 miles on it, BF Goodrich gave me a new tire but refused to do anything about the damage

I find it hard to believe that they are, but I have heard more rediculous things. Its getting harder and harder to find solid raised white letter tires, but try gong to www.tirerack.com. (http://www.tirerack.com.) They seem to have a pretty good selection. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I think the G-force KD and KDW tires are much better, and much better looking.

I just bought a set of BFG's from America's Tire last weekend - 275-60-15 & 255/60-15's. They were in stock and on in a 1/2 hour.

The Firehawk Indy 500 series is a nice tire. I run them on the 70, no complaints at all about them. The tire guy I use had them ready to roll. I took the rims in and was in and out in 45 minutes. The only car I have left with BFG's on it is the 69 Cutlass, and the right rear tire is getting low on tread fast ;) .
I run the Futura GLS Super Sport series on the Malibu and my 86 Cutlass. No complaints about those either, plus they have Super Sport in solid white letters smile.gif .

What kind of tread life do those Firestones have on your 70, especially the rear ones. ;)

What is the diameter of a 235-60 x 15 BFG radial TA?
