Anyone ever ship a 12 bolt? I'm trying to get an idea on cost. Can someone give me a weight? I guess I'll check FedEx Ground and then start with the truck freight companies. Any help is appreciated.

Don't even bother with fed-ex ground, or UPS. I don't think they would even touch anything that heavy!

I've had good luck with these guys. Shipped a block with them. They do online quotes.

I bought mine and had it shipped yellow freight. I think we had the shipping weight at 300#'s and it was about $150.00. Hope this helps

If it's a complete rear axle for a chevelle, they weigh about 175 lbs and truck freight is the only way you'll ship it. I've had very good luck with Forward Air (http://www.forwardair.com) shipping engines, transmissions, rear axles and even a frame. Prices were the best I found going coast to coast. If it is completely disassembled, you could UPS or FedEx it in three packages: one for the housing, the second for the axles and the last for the drums and backing plates and internals. I've shipped one and received one this way using UPS.

Same response as David Bates. Once it it broken down, UPS can handle it. I had to wrap mine in cardboard before they would ship it though.

Fedex ground will ship a rearend. I had one shipped from southern Calif. It was banded on a wood pallet made just for the transport. I also picked it up at their terminal. I had them load it in my pickup. I didn't want to trust the driver to get it off the back of the truck without dropping it.
