hey there everyone im having a problem my driver side door on my 1969 chevelle is stuck shut and wont open. the levers to open up the door works fine and the locking part works fine. i think the clamp that goes attatches to the striker bolt is stuck for somereason. i have the door panel off is there anyway i can get the door open and replace that if thats what it is....

I hope you can get it loose somehow. Mine was stuck so bad that I cut a hole in the door and peeled the latch apart, it still wouldnt release. I used a torch to cut the striker off.

Using a small screw driver you should be able to ply the finger on the strike up to release the door latch (it will not be easy to get to). Remove the latch so that you can see whats wrong with it and by removing it should you shut the door you will not have to go about getting it opened the hard way again.

Actually mpar is right. You should be able to get into the latch somewhere and release it with a screwdriver. The latch system is pretty simple but as you know they are hard to get to, if you just keep working at it you should be able to release it. If you need it I could send you a photo of a Camaro door latch that is out of the door. This may help you see what you are looking for.
