: Going Crazy on my 66 Chevelle Malibu
Scotts 66 Malibu Jun 22nd, 04, 10:16 PM Pardon all in advance for the long thread.
I have a bone stock 66 chevelle malibu that needs a total restoration. Here's what I'd like to know from you all. To go stock or go crazy? I have found a nice 502 motor and turbo 400 , both with 10k miles I can pick up for 3K. I was thinking, nice big block, lower it up front with some drop spindles, disc brakes, etc, put a 12 bolt rear end in it, put some nice seats but have the interior looking stock, hidden stereo, and do it up so it's a nice sleeper.
I'm looking for opinions, what would you all do or not do? The car needs quite a bit of work, springs, bushings, rearend, interior, etc...
Where would you go with this project?
Thanks for your time..
Scott,

72ElCaminoSS Jun 22nd, 04, 10:20 PM Since it needs a total resto anyway, I'd go with the 502/400.

Jesse66Original Jun 23rd, 04, 8:23 AM Go for the BB for sure. Just recently upgraded from a 350 to a 396 in my 66 Malibu. You can view it in my signature (before and after), if you do so and I can help just shoot me an e-mail, I will be glad to share the experience with you. I can tell you it made my 66 a completely different car, I just want to nail it all the time.

Jesse Jesse,
Your car is great and you did an awsome job! My car was orginally white and my cousin painted it green the same color as yours. Needless to say yours is quite an insperation (sp). Thanks for the tips and stay in touch...

Jesse66Original Jun 24th, 04, 8:10 AM Joeks and Scott, I thank both of you for the nice comments concerning my 66, sometimes we all get a little down once in a while or at least I do and comments like these lifts my spirit. Scott stay in touch guy and I wish you well.
OK Mike, I think GREEN would be cool also but it is not for everyone, paint that sucker black and it will show well. Just kidding guys.
