I need a good rough black coating to use on my firewall. This is not going to be a correct car, mostly a clean street rod/daily driver. I want this type of paint to hide the small blemishes in the firwall without all the body work to make it perfect. Also maybe it will insulate a little.
thanks........bk

I used POR-15 semiflat on my frame and firewall. I did not like the way it dried, ended up coating it with semigloss black paint. After talking to the rep from POR-15, he said the secret to the semiflat is the let it dry completely between coats, unliek the other POR-15 products. I am in Yorba Linda if you want to come check it out.

We ended up using Duplicolor truck bed coating. The car is not a proper resto project, we just needed something nice to cover the factory dimples and spot welds and we don't have the time to smooth the firewall.
For anyone who is not looking for a correct finish, this turned out really nice. We were a little apprehensive because we were covering a good coat of Por15 chassis black. The only problem with the semi gloss or gloss finish is the dimples are accentuated. You can still see the spot welds and dimples but it looks a lot better with a coarse finish. My 02 cents.
